This was taken on the same set-up and location as the Mayfly featured previously. This first trial mini-blacklight setup consisted of a white Tenplast panel lit by an LED camping lantern plus a small 4W fluorescent black light (more on this later). The photographs were taken directly on the Tenplast panel, wherever the insect happened to land. To focus properly in the dark, I used a LED headlamp to light the subject. In this case, the caddisfly with antenna was rather long, so I took two exposures–one of the body and one of the head and antenna–which I later stitched together with the free Microsoft ICE software.
